Summary

"UNLESS someone like you。。。cares a whole awful lot。。。nothing is going to get better。。。It's not。" Long before saving the earth became a global concern, Dr。 Seuss, speaking through his character the Lorax, warned against mindless progress and the danger it posed to the earth's natural beauty。 His classic cautionary tale is now available in an irresistible mini-edition, perfect for backpack or briefcase, for Arbor Day, Earth Day, and every day。

"The Lorax," written by Dr。 Suess is a book that is a visual feast, a poetic masterpiece, and a call for environmental change。 This illustrated poem was the 1976 California Young Readers Medal Nominee for Primary。 This book is intended for elementary school students, although the discussion that often accompanies this story extends all the way to college students。 "The Lorax" is a story about a businessman who destroyed an entire ecosystem due to his lack of self-control and greed。 The book ends "The Lorax," written by Dr。 Suess is a book that is a visual feast, a poetic masterpiece, and a call for environmental change。 This illustrated poem was the 1976 California Young Readers Medal Nominee for Primary。 This book is intended for elementary school students, although the discussion that often accompanies this story extends all the way to college students。 "The Lorax" is a story about a businessman who destroyed an entire ecosystem due to his lack of self-control and greed。 The book ends on an inspiring note, however, when the businessman who is now known only as the Once-ler says the famous Suess quote,“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better。 It's not。” This story is an excellent way for a class to discuss climate change and taking a stand on activism within their own lives。 Dr。 Suess uses the art of fantastical illustrations and rhythmic prose to take the reader on a roller coaster ride。 As you see the illustrations turn from bright and bold colors and patterns to dark and shadowy, you begin to see how much this impacts the reader's emotions and the mood of the story。 This book is definitely meant to be read aloud and enjoyed visually to fully experience Suess' "The Lorax。" 。。。more

This is such an important book to me as someone concerned about the environment issues。 If I ever go on to have children, I hope they love and feel this book just as much as I do now

A cautionary tale filled with brilliant rhymes, drawings, and Seuss’s trademark quirkiness, The Lorax teaches the importance of conservation and temperance。 In this cautionary rhyming tale(printed on recycled paper) we learn of the Once-ler, who came across a valley of TruffulaTrees and Brown Bar-ba-loots, and how his harvesting of the tufted trees changed thelandscape forever。 Lexile Level-560L

This story follows the sad tale of the One-ler and the mistake he made with the Lorax。 Truffula trees house many resources for it environment and when they began to be chopped down the Lorax appeared to speak for the trees。 I think this is a wonderful book for children。 It can teach children that when we misuse our environment the payoff is not always worth it。 That protecting the trees is better than losing them。 I also think the illustrations add to the story, the use of colors makes the eyes This story follows the sad tale of the One-ler and the mistake he made with the Lorax。 Truffula trees house many resources for it environment and when they began to be chopped down the Lorax appeared to speak for the trees。 I think this is a wonderful book for children。 It can teach children that when we misuse our environment the payoff is not always worth it。 That protecting the trees is better than losing them。 I also think the illustrations add to the story, the use of colors makes the eyes wonder the page。I would love to have this in my classroom someday。 I think it would be a fun way to introduce a nature topic to the class。 But a fun activity that could go along with the book is having the students make an invention of their own and what materials they would use。 。。。more

When the Once-ler moves in, he begins cutting down the truffula trees。 The Lorax then speaks for the trees demands they stop getting cut down。 This book teaches kids about how important the environment and our planet is。 This one of my all time favorite books。

The Lorax, a fuzzy orange creature, teaches the power of appreciating our environment in this famous book by Dr。 Suess。 His iconic saying, "I am the Lorax, and I speak for the trees," comes into play when a man begins cutting down trees in the forest。 At first, he claims that he will only pick from the trees so that they will not die, and the Lorax is satisified。 However, as he becomes greedier, things take a turn for the worst。 Dr。 Suess found a way to give a raw, truthful outlook of our impact The Lorax, a fuzzy orange creature, teaches the power of appreciating our environment in this famous book by Dr。 Suess。 His iconic saying, "I am the Lorax, and I speak for the trees," comes into play when a man begins cutting down trees in the forest。 At first, he claims that he will only pick from the trees so that they will not die, and the Lorax is satisified。 However, as he becomes greedier, things take a turn for the worst。 Dr。 Suess found a way to give a raw, truthful outlook of our impact on the environment in a way that is appropriate for children。 For his creativity, I give this book five stars。 It is impactful, and opens the readers eyes to the damage that is going on all around us。 。。。more

“It's not about what it is, it's about what it can become。”Loved this book! It has Dr。 Seuss' trademark rhymes, and is a good introduction to environmental awareness。 He successfully explains (simply and clearly) the process of building an industry at the expense of an ecosystem。 Highly recommend。 “It's not about what it is, it's about what it can become。”Loved this book!
